Truck Driver Slots Fully Booked for Safety & Wellness Symposium | Industry Delegates Still Welcome

Just weeks before the highly anticipated Truck Driver Safety & Wellness Symposium kicks off on 8-9 May, organisers have confirmed that all truck driver slots have officially been snapped up.

Hosted by the SaferStops Association alongside 23 private and public sector partners, the event at Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre promises a jam-packed two-day experience focused on uplifting the heart of the transport industry — truck drivers.

The programme includes 15 specialised workshops tackling crucial topics such as financial literacy, physical and mental health, work-life balance, and cargo safety.

A hard-hitting session on Human Trafficking Awareness has been added, addressing its ripple effects on victims, communities, and companies alike.

Drivers lucky enough to have secured a spot will receive free accommodation, a comprehensive medical check-up, including optometry with free spectacles, a goodie bag, and the chance to network with industry professionals and peers.

“Truck drivers are not just essential workers, they are the beating heart of the transport industry,” says Nicci Scott-Anderson, CEO of the SaferStops Association.

“Their health and well-being are the foundation of financial success, safety, and operational excellence.”

The Symposium is also supported by major industry players including ABSA, Engen, Hollard, Volvo, Sanral, OneLogix, and many more.

While truck driver registrations are now closed, transport operations staff can still register at R1,350 for full access to the programme (excluding accommodation).

Reflecting on the registration milestone, co-host Catherine Larkin had this to say, “We are delighted by the overwhelming response… it underscores the importance of platforms like this to address the holistic needs of truck drivers. Our focus is now on delivering an impactful experience for all confirmed attendees.”

She added, “To the drivers who have secured their spots, we eagerly anticipate welcoming you to the Symposium for two days dedicated to your safety, wellness, and professional growth – your well-being is truly at the heart of this event!”
