Nelspruit – A serious crash on the N4 near Mbombela this evening has left truck drivers at the scene fearing the worst after two side-tipper trucks collided.
According to eyewitness truckers who spoke to SA Trucker, the crash was so severe that both trucks were wrecked beyond recognition, with debris and truck parts scattered across the road. The collision has forced a complete closure of the N4 in both directions.
Drivers at the scene said they frantically searched for the two truck drivers but could not locate them, raising fears that they may not have survived the impact.
“It was a heavy hit, broer. We checked around but couldn’t find either of the drivers. The trucks are finished, it’s bad,” one driver told SA Trucker.

Authorities have not yet confirmed any fatalities, but emergency services are on site dealing with the wreckage. Motorists travelling on the route are being urged to approach the area with extreme caution or, if possible, make use of alternative roads until the N4 has been cleared.
