Truck Looted After Breaking Down on the Infamous Boboyi Mountain

Another trucker had a rough day on Saturday when his rig broke down on the notorious Boboyi mountain just outside Port Shepstone – and before he could even blink, the locals were already helping themselves to his load.

The truck, hauling a load of corrugated roofing sheets, gave up the ghost in the area well-known among drivers for being a hotspot for trouble.

Not long after the breakdown, a group of opportunistic looters pounced, stripping the truck of its cargo piece by piece.

Security company Mi7 Armed Response were called in to help, and according to reports, their teams arrived to find the local CPF (Community Policing Forum) already trying to hold the situation together.

Mi7 members jumped in and managed to recover some of the stolen roofing sheets and secure the scene to prevent further chaos.

But things were made worse when it was discovered that the looters had gone as far as cutting the connecting pipes between the horse and trailer, making a quick getaway impossible.

Mechanics had to be called out to patch things up before the truck could move again.

Once SAPS finally pitched up, control of the scene was handed over to the boys in blue for further investigation.

This latest incident just reminds us, once again, why Boboyi mountain has such a heavy rep among truckers. If you’re rolling through there, make sure your rig is in top shape – and maybe say a quick prayer while you’re at it or just hire security escort.
