A tragic accident claimed the life of a recovery crew member on Friday morning when a truck rammed into a broken-down truck he was working on along the N3 northbound, just after the Shongweni off-ramp.
According to paramedics at the scene, the man was declared deceased on-site due to the severity of his injuries.
Reports indicate that while the victim was in the process of recovering a broken-down truck, another truck crashed into the stationary vehicle, crushing him in the process.
After impact, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered across the Durban-bound carriageway before coming to a stop on the roadside embankment. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash, and investigations are ongoing.
