A 39-year-old truck driver was lucky to survive after he crashed into a trailer which loosened from the truck he was following behind and started rolling back towards him.
The accident happened on N12 just before Oarkney off ramp in Potchefstroom on Wednesday afternoon.
ER24 spokesman Ross Campbell said that paramedics arrived on the scene at 12:40pm to find the driver seriously injured and entrapped inside his truck cab.
“The J.B. Marks and Matlosana fire services had to cut the man out of the vehicle while paramedics stabilized him, ”Campbell said.
After being freed, the driver was taken to a private hospital in Klerksdorp.
It was not immediately clear how the trailer hot loose from the other truck, however, authorities were on the scene to investigate.
