Rescue services had to employ hydraulic tools to free a truck driver after he was entrapped in his truck wreck following a collision with two cars on N2 near KwaMashu off-ramp on Friday afternoon.
Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the N2 Northbound between Sunningdale and Umhlanga North of Durban to find the truck had collided with two cars before veering off the road and rested on an embankment.
The truck driver and his passenger were treated on the scene while Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free them from the wreckage.
The truck driver and one person from the car sustained critical injuries and were treated on the scene by Emergency Care Practitioners.
A fourth patient from one of the light motor vehicles had sustained moderate injuries.
Once stabilised all the patients were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.
All necessary authorities were on scene.
