Trucker Flees Crash Scene after Colliding with Taxi Killing 7 on N2 in Mthatha

Seven people have tragically lost their lives, and nine others were injured in a devastating head-on crash between a truck and a minibus taxi on the N2.

Provincial Traffic spokesperson, Makhaya Komisa, confirmed that the accident occurred between Mthatha and Mtentu on Saturday morning.

According to reports, the Toyota Quantum was travelling from East London to Libode, while the truck was heading towards East London when they collided in misty conditions.

Komisa also mentioned that the truck driver fled the scene and is currently being pursued by the police.

The truck had a KZN registration plate.

The injured passengers were rushed to Mthatha General Hospital. Authorities have opened a case of culpable homicide and are investigating the incident.

In another tragic accident in KwaZulu-Natal, eight people were killed on Friday morning when the Toyota Avanza they were travelling in collided with a truck.

All Avanza occupants died at the scene, while the truck driver sustained critical injuries.
