Trucker Killed, Passenger Seriously Injured in N2 Truck Crash Near KwaDukuza

A truck crash on the N2 near New Guelderland outside KwaDukuza claimed one life and left another person seriously injured early Sunday morning.

According to reports, the heavy motor vehicle collision resulted in both the driver and passenger becoming trapped inside the wreckage. KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) Fire & Rescue teams responded swiftly and worked tirelessly to free the occupants.

Sadly, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene. The passenger, who sustained serious injuries, was treated and stabilised by Taurus EMS paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, which caused major delays along the route as emergency crews cleared the scene.

Taurus EMS extended its appreciation to all first responders who assisted under difficult circumstances. “We thank all emergency personnel for their professional and dedicated work. Our thoughts are with the families affected by this tragic incident,” the service said in a statement.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling along the N2 corridor, especially with the recent rise in heavy vehicle incidents reported in the region.
