The transport and logistics industry in Durban is reeling from the tragic loss of Roshan Kali, the esteemed owner of Hook and Haul Logistics in Clairwood.
Kali, a respected figure in the trucking community, passed away on Sunday afternoon following a devastating motorcycle accident on the R33 near New Hanover in KwaZulu Natal.
While the biking fraternity has expressed its grief, fellow transporters and truckers are also mourning the loss of a man they describe as a visionary leader and a pillar of the industry.
Kali was returning from the Africa Ubuntu Bikers’ Breakfast Run, an event aimed at promoting unity and safety among bikers, when the accident occurred.
According to reports, Kali, who was an avid biker and a member of the President’s Club, collided with a double-cab vehicle while heading home.
Despite immediate efforts by bystanders, including the driver of the double cab who attempted resuscitation, Kali succumbed to his injuries.
For the trucking community, Kali’s passing is a profound loss.

He started Hook and Haul Logistics in 2014 and built it into a reputable company that served as a lifeline for many in the industry.
Fellow transporters remember him not only as a successful businessman but also as a mentor who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Transporter, Rajesh Naidoo, recalled Kali’s passion for both his work and his love for biking. “Roshan was a man of two worlds – he thrived in the logistics business but also found joy in riding. He often spoke about how biking helped him clear his mind and stay focused. It’s heartbreaking that something he loved so much ultimately led to his passing.”
