Masvingo – A bizarre accident on a highway in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, claimed the lives of two people after a minibus taxi crashed into a falling sideboard of a moving truck on Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the tragedy unfolded when a truck hauling a drop-side trailer was travelling along the highway when, at the worst possible moment, its right-hand sideboard suddenly swung open.
At the same time, a minibus taxi, which was in motion, met the truck at the exact spot where the loose panel fell.
With no time to react, the taxi driver slammed into the heavy metal sideboard, causing catastrophic damage.
Eyewitnesses say the impact was devastating. The taxi driver and a passenger seated on the right-hand side died instantly, while three other occupants suffered injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating what may have caused the truck’s side panel to suddenly give way, though early indications suggest it was either a mechanical failure or improper securing of the board.
