A tragic head-on collision on the N2 near the Tugela River has claimed the lives of two people and left another seriously injured.
The accident, involving two light motor vehicles, occurred earlier today under slippery road conditions.
According to emergency services, both deceased victims were travelling in the same vehicle.
The third person, who sustained serious injuries in the second car, was treated and stabilised on scene by IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics.
The Mandeni Fire Department, along with IPSS Search and Rescue, is currently working to extricate the bodies from the mangled wreckage.
Motorists travelling along the N2 in the Tugela area are urged to reduce speed and exercise caution, as the road remains wet and hazardous.
Authorities are on scene to manage traffic and investigate the cause of the collision.
