The N3 Toll Route is facing serious traffic disruptions tonight, Wednesday, 6 August 2025, following two major multi-vehicle crashes involving trucks.
Around 20:00, a serious crash involving four trucks occurred on Van Reenen Pass near Windy Corner (N3-6X 57.0S). All lanes are currently closed to traffic at that location, with emergency services on scene attending to the wreckage.
Shortly after, a second crash involving three trucks was reported on the northbound lanes near the Estcourt South Interchange (N3-5 11.0N). This has added even more pressure to an already gridlocked highway.
Occupants were reportedly trapped inside the wreckage, and rescue efforts are currently underway. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported so far.

Heavy mist, rain, and poor visibility are being blamed for the dangerous driving conditions. N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) has issued a strong warning to all road users: slow down, increase following distance, and approach both scenes with extreme caution.
With multiple crash scenes active and weather conditions deteriorating, emergency services are stretched thin. Motorists travelling between Cedara (KZN) and Heidelberg (Gauteng) are advised to exercise extra caution.
