Two suspects were arrested in Etwatwa after law enforcement officers caught them allegedly offloading goods from a truck that had earlier been hijacked in Sebenza.
According to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), members of the Intervention Unit, Community Liaison Unit (CLU), and the Eastern Region Task Team acted on information about a white articulated International truck that had been reported hijacked in the Sebenza area.
Officers immediately launched a search for the vehicle after receiving the tip-off. Using information from a tracking device fitted to the truck, the signal led officers to the Etwatwa area, specifically the corner of Eiselen Street and Albertros Road.
When officers arrived at the location, they reportedly found two men in the process of offloading goods from the truck.

The suspects, both aged 34, were arrested on the scene. Authorities said the truck and its cargo, valued at approximately R1.3 million, were recovered during the operation.
The two suspects were detained at Etwatwa Police Station and are facing charges related to the possession of a hijacked vehicle as well as possession of stolen goods.

They are expected to appear before the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
Truck hijackings remain a serious concern for transport operators across South Africa, with criminals often targeting loads shortly after vehicles leave depots or distribution centres.
