Tragedy struck on Thursday morning when an Urban Connect bus collided head-on with a haulage truck near Lutumba Toll Gate along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway, resulting in the deaths of 24 people.
According to eyewitnesses, the Beitbridge-bound bus was involved in a fatal crash with a Chirundu-bound truck carrying 34 tonnes of magnesium.

Beitbridge District Medical Officer, Dr. Lenos Samhere, confirmed that 24 people lost their lives in the accident.
Seventeen people died on the spot, while seven others succumbed to their injuries upon admission to the hospital.

Authorities also reported that more than 30 passengers sustained injuries, with 12 in critical condition.
