Update: Death Toll in N9 Minibus and SUV Collision Rises to 14

One more victim of the devastating crash on the N9 near Graaff-Reinet has succumbed to their injuries, bringing the death toll to 14.

As SA Trucker reported earlier, the collision involved a Toyota Quantum minibus taxi and a Mazda CX-5 SUV, which collided head-on approximately 30km from Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape.

All six occupants of the SUV tragically died at the scene. Eight people from the minibus also lost their lives in the immediate aftermath of the crash.

Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) spokesperson Simon Zwane confirmed that 11 other passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Zwane also noted that the road has since been cleared and reopened to traffic.

Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.
