Update: Three Dead, N1 Reopens After Fiery Truck Accident Near Touws River

Western Cape police have opened a case of culpable homicide following last night’s truck accident on the N1 near Touws River.

The accident involving three trucks happened outside Touws River toward De Doorns.

SAPS provincial spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed that three people had died in the horrific crash.

‘Upon SAPS arrival on the scene the trucks were already burning,’ Van Wyk said.

‘One of the victims managed to jump out of a burning truck unharmed and three others burned in the other two trucks.’

‘A culpable homicide case was opened for investigation.’

The road is now open for traffic.

Emergency services remained on the scene overnight, where two trucks were burning leading to massive traffic delays.
