CATO RIDGE – A truck driver has tragically died in a crash on the N3 southbound just after the BP Oasis in the early hours of Friday morning.
His female passenger sustained very serious injuries.
It is not yet known how the driver lost control of the container truck, causing it to overturn.
Both the driver and his passenger were trapped in the cab. Sadly, the driver succumbed to his injuries before he could be rescued.
Emergency services worked for hours through the early morning to free the two from the mangled wreckage.
Paramedics stabilised the injured woman on the scene before rushing her to Northdale Hospital for the urgent medical attention she required.
The N3 southbound was closed for an extended period as authorities worked to free the occupants and recover the truck.

The exact circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear at this stage, with investigations underway.
