Unfortunately, both occupants of the vehicle were declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

The crash occurred amidst two multi-vehicle collisions in the same area, causing major traffic disruptions and the closure of the N12 west between Snake Road and the Tom Jones offramp.

The initial crash, which happened around 11:20, involved an empty coal truck, a truck carrying wood, and a car.

The wood truck veered off the road, spilling its load onto the highway and landing in dense undergrowth.

Shortly after, a second collision occurred involving two trucks and several other vehicles.

In total, at least five additional cars sustained minor damage, while several people sustained minor injuries in the chaos.

Traffic authorities have been working to clear the scene, but the recovery of vehicles and investigations into the cause of the accidents are ongoing.

Motorists are still advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

SA Trucker extends condolences to the families of the deceased and urges drivers to exercise caution, especially around heavy vehicles.
