Usangu Logistics Beefs up Tanzanian Fleet with 30 DAF Trucks

Usangu Logistics is shifting gears in a big way, adding 30 brand-new DAF CF430 FTT trucks to its fleet in Tanzania to support its growing footprint across East and Southern Africa.

The fleet deal came together through Dutch Health, a company more known for medical gear than haulage.

But when their Tanzanian client needed trucks, they stepped up and sourced the funding and trucks, sticking to one condition: the trucks had to have Dutch roots. That’s where DAF came in.

With DAF’s Dutch heritage ticking the right boxes, Babcock – DAF’s official distributor in Southern Africa – got the nod.

They weren’t just there to deliver the units either.

Babcock flew out two of their technicians to Usangu’s depot in Tanzania to carry out pre-delivery checks.

They even included a stock of genuine DAF parts to keep the new fleet moving.

“Our collaboration with Dutch Health and ability to deliver the right vehicle specifications were key factors in Usangu’s decision to choose DAF Trucks,” said Alfred Hoyer, Sales Rep at Babcock.

The trucks were delivered with flat-deck trailers, ready to haul all sorts of cargo.

Usangu will handle most of the maintenance in-house in Tanzania, but the trucks can also be serviced in South Africa whenever they head south.

The deal isn’t a one-off either. Dutch Health and Babcock are already busy on the next batch – another 30 units could be rolling off soon.

“We are pleased with the successful delivery of the Tanzanian project in close cooperation with Babcock. This partnership was executed with full transparency, and we are currently working on two more projects in Africa involving DAF Trucks,” said Pieter Wiemers, Managing Director of Dutch Health BV.
