A team of Road Traffic Management Corporation’s crash investigators has descended on to the scene of a horror truck accident in Jozini, in KwaZulu-Natal.
Eight people died and several others have been injured when a truck apparently lost control and crashed into people and vehicles on Wednesday, authorities say.
“A total of eight people died at the scene and others were rushed to hospital for medical attention”, police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said.
Jozini police have opened charges of culpable homicide.
Social media is awash with videos and pictures of the horrific accident.
The truck collided with two busses, a minibus, and a bakkie including a multiple-purpose vehicle, before ploughing into crowded market stalls.

The exact cause of the crash has not been determined but brake failure is suspected to be the likely cause.
The number of fatalities could rise as authorities are still busy transporting victims to hospital, some who are in critical condition.
Investigations are ongoing to ascertain more details on the cause of the accident.
