Video footage has surfaced showing the moment a truck plowed into an active accident scene on the N3 northbound near Cliffdale, KwaZulu-Natal.
The crash, which occurred on Saturday morning, temporarily shut down the highway and highlighted the dangers emergency responders face when attending to roadside incidents.
In the video, captured from a rear-facing camera on a truck traveling in front of the runaway truck, the truck can be seen crashing into a fire truck parked on the roadside, attending to an earlier crash.
The truck appears unable to stop, slamming into stationary vehicles at the accident scene. It crashes with such force that the cab is completely destroyed.
As SA Trucker reported, the incident led to extensive delays and the N3’s closure as authorities worked to clear the site.
No official details on injuries have been confirmed, though the footage suggests a harrowing near-miss for those already on the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but initial observations suggest that the truck driver may have struggled to stop in time, possibly due to brake failure or another mechanical issue.
