A heartbreaking video has gone viral on social media, showing the tragic final moments of a truck driver who was knocked down by a speeding car after leaving a security office.
The incident reportedly happened in Brandvlei.
In the CCTV footage, the driver is seen walking towards his truck while talking on his cellphone. As he crosses the road, a Toyota Quantum parked on his left partially blocks his view of oncoming traffic. Believing the road to be clear, he proceeds.
But midway through the lane, a car suddenly approaches at high speed from the right. The driver notices too late and makes a desperate attempt to run out of the way. Tragically, he is struck, flung into the air, and disappears from camera view.

According to information received by SA Trucker, the driver did not survive the impact.
While the car’s speed appears excessive for such a road, the cellphone distraction clearly played a role in the tragedy. The incident is a sobering reminder of just how dangerous it can be for truckers both on and off the road. You can watch the video here.
