Van Reenen Pass on the N3 freeway has been brought to a standstill this Thursday morning, 19 December 2024, following two serious crashes involving multiple vehicles.
According to the N3 Toll Concession (N3TC), the first crash occurred at N3 6X 51.6S (Durban-bound) near the town of Van Reenen, involving several vehicles and completely obstructing all lanes in both directions.
In a second incident, a truck jackknifed at N3 6X 56.6N (Johannesburg-bound), blocking the northbound carriageway heading towards Gauteng. Emergency services are on the scene, working tirelessly to assist with both accidents and to restore traffic flow.

Motorists travelling along the route are advised to expect significant delays and heavy congestion. Authorities urge all road users to approach the area with extreme caution, reduce speed, and exercise patience while emergency teams clear the road.
