Watch: A Simple Tipping Mistake leads to a Full Truck rollover – a Critical Lesson for Every Driver

A video making the rounds online captures the exact moment a truck driver turns a recoverable situation into a complete write-off after attempting a dangerous self-recovery at an unidentified mine.

Watch the full incident unfold

In the CCTV clip, the rear trailer of a side tipper interlink is already on its side, likely caused by sticky cargo like wet chrome that refused to discharge during tipping. The front trailer remains raised, leaving the entire unit unstable.

Then comes the fateful decision.

The driver reverses slightly, then pulls forward, apparently hoping momentum will snap the rear trailer back onto its wheels. Instead, the left side begins lifting off the ground. Rather than stopping, the driver pushes through. Within seconds, the whole combination loses balance. The front trailer and the horse crash down, turning a bad situation into a full rollover.

Why sticky cargo is a silent danger

Incidents like this often trace back to material that clings to the bin instead of flowing out. Wet chrome is a common culprit. When drivers keep tipping blind, the centre of gravity shifts dangerously and rollovers follow.

3 steps to take instead of attempting self-recovery

  1. Stop immediately if the load isn’t flowing. Don’t keep raising the bin.
  2. Call professional recovery teams with the right equipment. Never try to “bounce” a trailer upright.
  3. Investigate the cause before resuming. Sticky material? Wet load? Bin damage? Find it before you flip it.

The bottom line

While the exact mine location remains unconfirmed, this incident is already raising red flags among drivers and fleet operators about risky on-site decisions that escalate losses fast.

What looks like a quick fix can easily end in greater damage, serious safety risks, and costly downtime. Sometimes it’s better to take the delay than write off the whole rig.

Never tip blindly. Always confirm the load is flowing. If it sticks, stop. Investigate. Then call the pros.
