Emergency services were called to a dramatic crash scene on Hely Hutchinson Avenue in Bakoven, near Camps Bay, last night after a car slammed head-on into a stationary truck and burst into flames.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened late on Wednesday evening when a driver, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, crashed into the back tipper truck that was parked along the road. The impact caused both the car and the truck to catch fire, engulfing the vehicles in flames within moments.
A video shared from the scene shows the fiery aftermath, with the car and truck well alight as firefighters battled to extinguish the blaze. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
At this stage, the cause of the crash has not been officially confirmed, and authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Motorists using the route were advised to exercise caution as emergency personnel cleared the wreckage and conducted their investigations late into the night.
