Watch: Another multi-vehicle crash on the N3 Southbound near Marianhill Toll Plaza

Yet another major pile-up has rocked the N3 this afternoon on the southbound carriageway just before Marianhill Toll Plaza. The wreck happened only a few metres away from the scene of yesterday’s serious crash, leaving motorists shaking their heads and wondering what is going on with that stretch of highway.

According to ALS Paramedics, luckily no fatalities have been reported in today’s crash.

Paramedics say it is nothing short of a miracle, considering the sheer force and chaos involved. Several people have been injured, although exact numbers and condition details are still being confirmed.

Preliminary reports suggest that a tanker truck lost control while coming downhill from Marianhill.

The tanker is believed to have veered off the road, climbed up a steep embankment and then rolled back down, crashing onto a minibus taxi, a light motor vehicle and a side tipper truck. The impact left all four vehicles badly smashed and scattered across the roadway.

With yesterday’s incident still fresh in everyone’s minds, the fact that both massive crashes happened in the same spot and neither claimed lives has drivers saying it’s nothing short of divine intervention.

The amount of twisted metal lying on the tar looks like something out of a disaster film, yet everyone walked away alive.

Traffic is severely backed up as emergency crews work to stabilise the scene and clear debris. Motorists heading towards Durban are urged to slow down, drive carefully and expect delays.

The exact cause of the crash is not yet confirmed and investigations are under way.

This is a developing story. We will update as more details become available. Stay safe out there, okes, and keep those eyes up and speed down when passing the scene.
