A truck driver was shot during a robbery at the Vaal Truck Inn in Villiers in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to truck drivers at the scene, a group of robbers allegedly bombed an ATM inside the truck stop’s canteen during the incident.
It could not immediately be confirmed whether the suspects managed to get away with any money from the ATM.
A truck driver was reportedly caught up in the fracas and sustained a gunshot wound. The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting could not immediately be established.
The driver survived the shooting and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Vaal Truck Inn had not responded to enquiries sent by SA Trucker at the time of publishing.
