A serious accident involving a side tipper truck and a bakkie has occurred on the N14 near Klerkskraal Dam outside Ventersdorp. The crash took place earlier today and emergency services are currently on scene.
According to a trucker who arrived at the scene moments after the crash, it appears the side tipper truck was attempting a U-turn on the national route when the bakkie slammed into it. The impact was devastating — the bakkie’s chassis reportedly slipped underneath the trailer and emerged on the other side, while the cab and bin were left completely crushed behind.
The bakkie driver was trapped inside the mangled cab. His condition, as well as that of the truck driver, remains unknown at this stage. Emergency personnel are working to free the trapped victim, but it’s unclear how long the rescue efforts will take.
Authorities have not released official details yet, and the road may be closed or partially obstructed as response teams work at the scene.
