A brazen daylight theft was caught on camera this Tuesday morning near the Onelogix depot where thieves helped themselves to bales of blankets from a parked container and left as if it was business as usual.
In the footage, two suspects casually approach the container with a Hyundai H100 bakkie creeping behind them.
One of the men opens the container door, which suggests the seal had already been tampered with earlier. Without any rush or panic, he starts hauling out large bales of blankets and passing them to his partner at the truck.
Shockingly, two security guards walk past during the operation but do not intervene. It appears the space where the truck was parked is an open strip between Bayhead Road and the depot where no dedicated guards are stationed, leaving criminals free to operate unnoticed.
The suspects continue loading multiple bales into the bakkie until it is packed full before calmly driving away.
This incident highlights the growing trend of opportunistic looting around Durban port logistics hubs, where cargo theft has become a multimillion-rand headache for transporters. With slick teamwork, access to seals or cutters, and the luxury of operating in blind spots, thieves are becoming more daring.

Transporters operating in the area are urged to double-check where loads are parked, ensure seals remain intact, and report suspicious activity before criminals turn daylight theft into the new normal.
