Captain Lee Wemakondo has officially dismissed rumours circulating on social media that he is dead.
The rumours began after a video surfaced in which a group of men appeared to be bidding farewell to a “Captain Le Wemakondo.” The video quickly went viral, sparking widespread speculation and concern among his fans.
Lee became an internet sensation after a now-famous video, where he demonstrated how to safely descend a hill in an International Eagle truck, went viral. In the video, Lee, calm and collected, explained the step-by-step process for handling a heavy-duty truck on steep inclines.
However, the demonstration took an unexpected turn when Lee lost control of the truck mid-way through the video, causing it to crash. With remarkable poise, Lee addressed the camera, reassuring viewers that “the Eagle has landed” and that “these things happen” in the world of trucking.
The video, watched by millions, turned Lee into a household name among truckers, with many praising his expertise and easy-going style. But despite his newfound fame, the viral video also attracted imitators, one of whom, reportedly from Rustenburg, used Lee’s name, leading to confusion.

My videos have inspired many truckers, so there are copycats using my name. Apparently, this is just one of them, who lived in Rustenburg. May his soul rest in peace. I hear that he was also very good with the Eagle.”
