A shocking crash involving a Mercedes-Benz sedan and a Volvo articulated truck was caught on CCTV, and the footage has since gone viral on social media.
The accident occurred this Sunday morning at 04h14 according to the timestamp on the footage.
The condition of those involved is unknown at this stage, we hope they are okay.
In the video, the truck is seen turning right at an intersection.
Before it finishes the manoeuvre, the Mercedes-Benz, travelling at high speed in the opposite direction, smashes into the second trailer of the truck’s tautliner back trailer.
The crash raises significant concerns about defensive driving.
While the traffic light was green for the car, it remains unclear whether the truck driver also had a green light to proceed.

Regardless, defensive driving principles dictate that the truck driver should have yielded to the oncoming vehicle, given the apparent danger.
For the car driver, this incident highlights another critical aspect of defensive driving – approaching intersections with caution.
Green doesn’t always mean go – it means “proceed when safe.” Had the driver reduced speed while approaching the intersection, they might have had enough time to react to the truck’s misjudged turn and avoid the collision altogether.
Intersections are notorious danger zones and crashes like this one underline the importance of being proactive rather than reactive behind the wheel.
Defensive driving isn’t just about obeying traffic laws – it’s about anticipating potential hazards and being prepared to act.
Watch the video below and share your thoughts: Could this accident have been avoided with better judgment and defensive driving?
Stay safe out there, truckers and motorists – every second counts when it comes to road safety.
