Watch: Dashcam Footage of N7 Crash Exonerates Trucker From Wrongdoing

Dashcam footage from a horrific crash on the N7 between Moorreesburg and Piketberg on Thursday morning has cleared the truck driver of any wrongdoing.

The crash claimed the lives of two people in a VW Golf, while the trucker emerged unharmed.

The video shows the truck travelling steadily in its lane when the VW Golf, approaching from the opposite direction, appears to lose control on a curve.

The car veers into the truck’s path, giving the truck driver only seconds to react.

Despite swerving left in an attempt to avoid the collision, the trucker couldn’t evade the inevitable.

The impact was devastating. The truck lost control, crossing over into the opposite lane before coming to a stop on the far side of the road.

Pictures shared on social media showed the Golf ripped apart, with its engine and doors scattered across the crash site.

Emergency responders declared two occupants of the VW Golf deceased at the scene.

The truck driver was examined and found unharmed, though visibly shaken by the incident.

The footage has sparked conversations online, with many praising the truck driver for attempting to avoid the collision under impossible circumstances. “This just shows how quickly things can go south on the road,” one commenter said.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, but the video makes it clear that the trucker was not at fault.
