A diesel tanker overturned on the R60 near Robertson entrapping all three occupants inside the vehicle and causing a massive fuel spillage.
Emergency services, including the Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services, responded to the scene to rescue the trapped individuals.
According to CWDM spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto, fire crews successfully freed all three occupants from the wreckage. One of them sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment from paramedics.
The accident resulted in diesel spilling onto the road and surrounding farmland, prompting authorities to secure the area.
A stop-and-go traffic system has been implemented to manage the flow of vehicles while cleanup operations are underway.

“Travellers are requested to slow down as they approach the hill before town and follow the instructions of the traffic officials on site,” Otto advised.
