The N2 freeway has been shut down in both directions after a high-stakes Cash-in-Transit (CIT) heist that rocked the highway just after 6:00 AM on Tuesday.
The brazen attack happened on the N2 northbound near NPC, between Higginson Highway and the M7 interchange.
Dramatic footage of the crime scene is circulating on social media. In one video, gunfire echoes in the background as a suspect approaches the CIT vehicle, presumably planting explosives.
A few moments later, he dashes away before a powerful explosion rips through the truck, sending its armored container soaring into the air.
When the dust settles, the vehicle is completely destroyed.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, speaking from the scene, confirmed multiple casualties, including bystanders.

“Not only security officers but also some members of the public have been shot,” he said.
Authorities are on-site, and the N2 remains an active crime scene. Motorists should expect severe delays and are urged to use alternative routes.
