Two truck drivers were seriously injured on Wednesday morning after a J&J Transport articulated truck and a Time Link Cargo side-tipper interlink collided head-on along the R2 highway between Kadoma and Kwekwe.
The impact was devastating. The Time Link side-tipper overturned onto its side, spilling debris across the roadway, while the J&J unit remained upright but badly mangled, with the cab almost completely severed from the chassis. Both vehicles were extensively damaged, leaving the scene looking like something out of a high-impact crash test.
According to sources on the ground, both drivers sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders transported them to hospital for further treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available at the time of writing.
