Dashcam footage has emerged of the fatal accident on N2 near Hluhluwe where a tanker truck collided with a tipper truck killing one on Sunday.
In the 21-second video, the tanker is just about to finish overtaking the truck with the onboard camera, while the tipper truck is approaching from the opposite direction.
The tipper truck is encroaching the oncoming lane as it tries to pass safely a car which is parked on the yellow lane.
Before both trucks could go back to their lanes, they collide, missing a straight head-on collision by a whisker.
The tanker truck hits the back trailer of the side-tipper truck and crashes off the road on the left side.
Within a second or two, it explodes into a ball of fire.
According to Robert Mackenzie, KZN EMS spokesperson, all three trucks and the car were burnt in the horrific crash.
The driver of the tanker which was overtaking sadly lost his life in the accident.
