Watch: Fire at Durban’s Total Island View Terminal

Firefighters made a quick job of a fire which had threatened to cause havoc at Total South Africa Island View Terminal(IVT) on Monday morning.

The fire allegedly started at a diesel pipeline around 11h40.

It is reported that the fire may have been caused by a leaking flange.

Transnet fire, Ethekwini Metro fire and SAPREF quickly put out the fire before it could spread.

The fire was put under control and was extinguished at 12h00.

Chief Officer in Charge of Ethekweni Metro fire, Mr Nortje, said the cause of the fire was still being investigated.

No casualties or injuries were reported and the scene was declared safe by the fire chief on the scene.
