The Nyamapemere River Bridge, located a few kilometres after Nyazura Township along the Harare-Mutare Highway in Zimbabwe became the scene of a puzzling sequence of truck accidents on Thursday evening.
Over just two hours, three crashes involving four trucks unfolded at the bridge, leaving locals and truckers alike stunned.
The first accident occurred when a truck lost control on the approach to the bridge and plunged into the river below.
A few minutes later, a second truck slowed down to negotiate the area safely, only to be rear-ended by another truck.
The chaos escalated when a fourth truck approached the scene at high speed and veered off the road, landing directly on top of the truck that had crashed into the river earlier.
The vehicle instantly caught fire also igniting the one in the earlier accident.
Incredibly, only one driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, while the others escaped with minor scrapes.
A local source who spoke to SA Trucker said the area has long been rumoured to be haunted. “There are stories about a ghost causing accidents at this bridge. We don’t know if it’s true, but how else do you explain three crashes at the exact same spot in two hours?” the source wondered.

Despite the ghost stories, authorities are focusing on more practical explanations.
However, driver fatigue and road conditions at the time of the accidents are among the factors that need to be investigated.
Whether the cause is paranormal or purely coincidental, drivers are being urged to exercise caution when approaching this notorious spot.
