A terrifying crash between two buses was caught on camera in Tanzania on Wednesday afternoon, after one of the vehicles attempted a reckless overtake on a blind rise – right in front of oncoming traffic. The overtake was made on a sharp bend clearly marked with a continuous line, warning against such moves.
The video, which has since gone viral, was recorded by a passenger in one of the buses. Holding his phone outside the window, the passenger unknowingly captured the moment of impact. As the overtaking bus came into frame and the inevitable crash approached, the passenger quickly pulled the phone back inside – just seconds after recording the collision.
The footage shows just how little time the driver had to react. The overtaking bus veered to the left, but it was far too late, and the oncoming bus, with no space or time to brake or swerve, crashed directly into it.
At this stage, SA Trucker has not been able to confirm any details about casualties or injuries.
Why Are We Posting This?
When we post videos like this – whether they end in tragedy or just close calls – it’s not for shock value. It’s to show the real consequences of reckless behaviour on the road. This crash is exactly what can happen when drivers ignore warnings like continuous lines, or when they fool themselves into thinking, “I can see far enough,” or “I’ll make it quick-quick.”
Before taking a chance on a risky overtake, a driver needs to stop and ask: what if it doesn’t go according to plan? That one moment of poor judgment can cost lives.
Road markings aren’t painted for decoration – they’re there to protect you, and others. This video is a painful reminder of what happens when those rules are ignored.
