Motorists are urged to avoid the Old Witbank Road between Emalahleni and Middelburg following a major multi-vehicle collision involving a truck and several other vehicles.
According to initial information received, multiple vehicles were involved in the crash. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been confirmed.
The truck involved in the accident reportedly caught fire, with the flames spreading into nearby veld. Thick smoke is billowing across the area, creating hazardous conditions for both motorists and emergency responders.

Emergency services are still responding to the scene, and it is not yet known whether there have been any fatalities or injuries. Authorities are expected to release more information once assessments have been completed.
Traffic has come to a complete standstill in both directions, with queues stretching for kilometres. The roadway narrows to a single lane in each direction beneath the railway bridge, leaving no space for vehicles to pass while emergency crews work at the scene.
The Old Witbank Road is currently inaccessible from both the Emalahleni and Middelburg sides.
Recovery operations have not yet begun as firefighters are still en route to bring the blaze under control and secure the area before wreckage can be cleared.
Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the route and use alternative roads until further notice.
