The N3 Durban-bound carriageway is currently at a standstill following a serious multi-vehicle collision at Cato Ridge.
The crash, which occurred earlier today, involved two trucks and several cars, leaving the road completely blocked.
According to initial reports, the incident began when a truck failed to stop in time and rear-ended another truck that had halted near a construction site.
The impact sent the second truck careening into several smaller vehicles, creating utter chaos on the busy route.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “devastating,” with mangled vehicles and debris scattered across the road.
Emergency services are on-site, working to clear the wreckage, but it’s expected to take hours before traffic can flow normally again.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Those heading Durban-bound should take the Cato Ridge off-ramp, bypass the scene, and rejoin the N3 at Hammarsdale.
