WATCH: Mozambican Cop Shoots Motorist in the Foot in Instant Street Justice

A shocking video has surfaced showing a Mozambican police officer meting out what appears to be instant street justice by shooting a motorist in the foot while holding him down.

As if in agreement, the officer aims his AK47 on the man’s left foot before shooting once and he walks away.

After being shot, the victim can be seen helplessly limping away from the scene.

The disturbing footage, captured on a public road, once again shines a spotlight on the growing concerns around police brutality and lawlessness in the some southern African countries – especially as experienced by foreign truck drivers, including those from South Africa.

No official details have been released about the victim or the reason for the violent altercation, but for many truckers, this video confirms what they already know – cross-border ain’t for the faint-hearted.

Unlike in South Africa and most SADC states where cops generally operate within the bounds of the law, Mozambique’s law enforcement officers are often a law unto themselves.

For truckers hauling goods across this volatile route, staying alive and out of trouble is not just about avoiding accidents, it’s about playing by unwritten rules that could make or break your trip.
