“There are multiple patients and reports of entrapments. Emergency services are currently working on the scene under difficult rainy weather conditions,” said Towa.
The accident has resulted in a full closure of the Bloemfontein-bound lanes on the N8, leaving trucks and buses stacking up for kilometres as responders work carefully to free trapped passengers from the bus.
“We urge motorists travelling through the area to be cautious and expect delays. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” Towa added.
At this stage, the exact number of injuries, the cause of the crash, and whether there are any fatalities have not yet been confirmed. Traffic volumes are reportedly heavy, with some truck drivers describing the situation as “proper chaos”.
Road users are advised to consider alternative routes where possible until the crash scene is cleared.
