EMAKHAZENI, MPUMALANGA – Multiple people are feared dead following a serious multi-vehicle pile-up on the N4 near Emakhazeni on Thursday afternoon.
The crash was reported by TRAC N4 Route at 13:36, with authorities confirming that the collision occurred between the Emakhazeni Interchange and Dalmanutha Interchange. A STOP/GO traffic control system has been implemented while emergency services respond to the scene.
According to a video received by SA Trucker, at least four vehicles were involved in the collision, including two trucks and two light motor vehicles. The full extent of the crash is still being determined, and additional vehicles may have been involved.
Early reports from the scene suggest that poor visibility caused by thick smoke from burning grass alongside the road may have contributed to the crash. However, the exact cause has not yet been confirmed and remains under investigation.

Emergency personnel have only recently arrived at the scene and are currently assessing the situation. Multiple people are feared to have lost their lives, although officials have not yet confirmed the number of fatalities or injuries.
Motorists travelling on the N4 are urged to expect significant delays, follow the instructions of traffic officials, and approach the area with extreme caution.
