Two people have been killed after their vehicle was crashed in between two trucks during a multiple vehicle collision on N17 in Trichrdt, Mpumalanga on Tuesday morning.
According to ER24 paramedics, two trucks and six cars were involved in the fatal collision.
It is believed misty conditions could have caused the accident.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene at 08h20 to find several vehicles across the road. Two trucks were found in the middle of the road with a light motor vehicle smashed between them. Numerous people were seen walking around the scene,” reported ER24.
On closer inspection, medics found two bodies lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle smashed between the two trucks.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.
ER24 and other services attended to three people who were injured before transferring them to hospital.
Jaws of life had to he used to free one of the truck drivers who was trapped in his wreck. Two other people were also trapped on their vehicles.
Once released, medics treated the patients and transported them to Mediclinic Highveld for further care.

The cause of the accident is known at this stage, however, authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
