Watch: N2 Closed Near Scottburgh Due to Diesel Tanker Crash

Scottsburgh – The N2 southbound is currently closed just before the Scottburgh offramp after a diesel tanker overturned this morning.

The tanker, which was carrying a full load of 38,000 litres of fuel, lies on its side across both lanes of the highway, with diesel spilling onto the road.

While both lanes are blocked, traffic is being diverted through the grass area adjacent to the road, allowing vehicles to bypass the scene.

However, this alternative route presents safety concerns, particularly due to the diesel leak.

Authorities are urging drivers to proceed with caution and avoid the area if possible.

Fire services have swiftly arrived at the scene to monitor the situation and prevent any fire hazards.

Emergency crews are working to contain the leak and secure the tanker to ensure there are no further risks of a fire or explosion.

Traffic is being rerouted to the Umkomaas offramp as the clean-up operation continues.

Motorists travelling southbound on the N2 are advised to expect delays and to use alternative routes where possible.

Stay tuned for updates as emergency services work to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow.
