Watch out for N3 closure in KZN Midlands from August 16 to September 8

Motorists are urged to be on the lookout for road closures on the N3 in the KZN Midlands area due to Eskom servicing the overhead transmission line structure and conductor.

The South African National Road Agency (Sanral) said intermittent and partial road closures are scheduled to take place on the N3 from August 16 to September 8 2021.

Sanral said the closure is necessary to replace overhead transmission line structure and conductor that serves the area electricity.

Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), Mpofana and Umngeni Traffic will monitor the diversion of traffic and traffic will be diverted at:

1. N3 Northbound Howick/Midmar (Exit 103) off-ramp when driving towards Johannesburg.

2. N3 Southboound Nottingham (exit 132) off-ramp when driving towards Durban/Pietermaritzburg.

3. Heavy motor vehicles will be stacked on both bounds.

Sanral said the closure may need to be adjusted depending on weather conditions on the day. If need be, a second notice with information of the new time will be made available.

Motorists are urged to make use of alternative routes, plan and adjust their route trips on time, proceed with caution and adhere to speed limits.

Sanral apologised to motorists for any inconvenience caused.
