A dramatic high-speed chase ended in an equally dramatic arrest on Monday afternoon when SAPS and Metro Police units swooped on a robbery suspect driving a white VW Polo near the second circle on Baden Powell Drive in Muizenberg.
The suspect, who had allegedly committed a robbery earlier, was pursued from the Wynberg Regional Court area.
During the chase, he collided with multiple vehicles but refused to stop. The pursuit intensified through the busy roads, with officers from SAPS, Metro Police, and Traffic Services coordinating efforts to bring the Polo to a halt.
Video footage shared with SA Trucker shows the moment the suspect’s car was surrounded by several law enforcement vehicles before crashing. Officers can be seen quickly pouncing on the suspect, bringing the chaotic chase to an end.
The arrest occurred just after 13:00. The suspect is now in custody and expected to face charges soon.
