Tamarack, West Virginia – A bizarre and almost unbelievable crash on the West Virginia Turnpike (I-77) left motorists stunned after a semi-truck hauling cars tore straight through the trailer of another semi during a snowstorm.
At first glance, video footage of the incident, widely shared on social media, appears to show a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van lodged inside the wreckage of a semi-trailer. But on closer inspection, it becomes clear that an entire car-hauler truck had sliced through the trailer like a hot knife through butter.
The crash occurred near Tamarack as a fierce winter storm swept through the area, reducing visibility and making road conditions treacherous.
Witnesses say the first semi-truck, pulling a box trailer, had jack knifed due to icy roads when the second truck, a vehicle transporter, failed to stop in time.
The impact was so forceful that the truck carrying cars punched clean through the other semi’s trailer, with the Sprinter van — positioned at the rear of the car hauler — ending up inside the wreckage, making it appear as if the van itself had crashed into the trailer.
Despite the absolute carnage, no injuries were reported. Both truck drivers walked away unharmed, a fact that has left social media users in disbelief.

“This is straight out of a Fast & Furious movie,” commented one user. Another added, “Looks like that Sprinter tried to make a great escape, but plot twist—it was the whole truck.”
Authorities temporarily shut down the northbound lanes of I-77 to clear the debris and investigate the incident. The West Virginia State Police confirmed that the weather played a major role in the crash but emphasized that it was a miracle no one was hurt.
