Cargo thieves pulled off a brazen heist in the early hours of Saturday morning at the TotalEnergies Petroport Riverhorse N2 North, stealing 29 fridges from a truck parked at the stop while the driver was fast asleep.
The criminals reportedly cut through the curtains of the tautliner trailer and made off with the cargo without the driver noticing a thing.
By the time the driver woke up, the trailer was nearly emptied, and the gang had vanished into the night with 29 fridges in tow.
A spokesperson for Mother Truckers, whose truck was attacked, confirmed to SA Trucker that the case is currently under investigation.
Due to its sensitive nature, she couldn’t release additional details.
The truck stop has not yet responded, but SA Trucker will provide updates if new information surfaces.

A video shared with SA Trucker reveals the aftermath: the trailer’s right-hand curtain, torn open, exposes the large gap where the fridges had been.
The thieves’ trail is visible leading towards the N2 freeway, just a stone’s throw from the garage.
